Tiger Moves · Tiger & Goats
Goats: Block all four tigers so they have no legal move.
Tigers: Capture 5 goats by jumping over them.
The game is played on a 5×5 grid with 25 intersections (points where lines meet). Pieces move along the lines—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal—to adjacent intersections only.
4 Tigers start on the four corners of the board. 20 Goats start off the board and are placed one by one during Phase 1.
Goats are placed one at a time on any empty intersection. After each goat placement, the Tigers may move or capture (it is the Tigers’ turn). Goats cannot move until all 20 are on the board. Once the last goat is placed, the game moves to Phase 2.
Once all 20 goats are on the board, goats can move. On their turn, a goat may move to an adjacent empty intersection along the lines (one step only). Tigers continue to move or capture as in Phase 1: they may move to an adjacent empty intersection or capture a goat by jumping over it.
A tiger captures a goat by jumping over it to the empty spot immediately beyond (like in Checkers). The goat is removed from the board and counts toward the Tigers’ goal of 5 captures. Only one goat can be captured per tiger move. A tiger may not jump over another tiger.
Tigers win by capturing 5 goats. The game ends as soon as the fifth goat is captured.
Goats win by surrounding the tigers so none of the four can make any legal move—no empty adjacent intersection and no legal jump over a goat. The game ends as soon as the Tigers have no legal move (e.g. after a goat move that blocks all tigers, or after the last goat is placed and all tigers are already blocked).
